Historical, literary and theological study. Of special importance is the role of these writings within the larger literary complexes of the former prophets and the deuteronomic history. Issues such as the scriptural authority of texts that advocate violence and genocide will be considered. The chief goal is the appropriation of the material for the life of the church.
