Description

This ten-week course explores western Christian perspectives on suffering and invites students to develop their own practical theology of suffering. Course materials address suffering both chronologically (snapshots from biblical, early church, medieval, and reformation accounts) and topically (by explorations of suffering as Christian duty, grief, oppression, and war). The final two weeks of the course focus on theodicies and conceptions of Christian hope.
